Woodies The Irish Version Of B And Q Hired A Training Bus To Travel Around Their Irish Stores To Provide A Static Training Venue For Their Staff To Visit
The Brief
Roadshow Promotions were approached by Woodie’s DIY to provide a double decker training bus for a national 4 week training tour around Woodie’s Irish stores
Woodie’s the 100% Irish owned DIY Store and a subsidiary of Grafton Group plc. They are also the market leader in Ireland with thirty-six branches nationwide offering an extensive range of DIY products, Paints, Lighting, Homestyle, Housewares, Bathroom Accessories, Building, Gardening products and Fitted Kitchens. They supply almost everything for Irish home improvement and gardening needs.
The Response
We suggested RSP02 one of our promotional buses configured as a training vehicle, images of the interior/exterior were sent to Woodies Trainers along with costs and after a brief wait, the bus was booked to start the Irish tour in January, with branding the bus exterior happening prior to the Christmas break, In addition to the vehicle being branded Woodies requested that the interior leather seats be changed from black & grey to white, we happily obliged
Part of the process was Woodies request for us to create a cost effective and achievable tour route, incorporating as many of the named 32 nationwide stores as possible, taking in to account that some stores required the bus to undertake 2 training sessions over a full day whilst other stores would undertake 1 session in half a day
We provided a route that would incorporate all sites over 4 x 6-day weeks
The Result
With everything booked and in place the training bus departed Blackpool on Saturday 14th Jan heading for the ferry port to transfer the vehicle to Ireland, with its first event taking place in Tallaght.
Overall the bus allowed Woodies trainers access to over 500 staff without worrying about training space within each of the stores.
The tour was slightly delayed when an articulated lorry managed to tap the front windsceen of the bus causing minor damage, however this delayed the tour by 4 days, which we added to the end of the tour
Even with the disruption casued by the accident the vehicle was well recieved by both Woodies management and staff and we are looking forward to a different tour in the new year.
