Promoting a Trade Union
Our strategic partner, Bauer Radio had been asked to project manage a promotional vehicle tour for USDAW, obviously they came to us to provide the right promotional bus for the job, after reviewing their requirements we suggested RSP07 one of our single decker promotional buses.
The bus was to travel around the UK visiting various factories and shopping precincts promoting the trade union’s 125th birthday at the same time sign-up new members and answer questions and queries from existing members
After a visit to the bus by USDAW, their agency and Bauer Radio staff it was decided that RSP07 was the ideal bus for the job with few enhancements needed to the vehicle the main being a full vinyl wrap to the exterior, some internal branding over windows and cupboard doors and the inclusion of a 4m long x 1.5m high leaflet wall to be installed behind the driver cab
Usdaw is one of Britain’s largest trade unions with over 429,000 members nationwide its remit is to recruit, organise and represent workers in the retail, distributive, manufacturing and service sectors for the purpose of securing the best possible terms and conditions and providing support and protection at work.
As for the tour, this was to be 60 event days over an 11-week period starting with 2 event days in April for the USDAW Conference in Blackpool, with the remainder of the tour commencing in early June and finishing mid- August visiting over 46 locations within Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland
The first 2 days at the USDAW National Conference in Blackpool were a great success with the promotional vehicle being well received by union delegates, with many of said delegates having their photographs taken in the single decker buses driver seat, this success set the precedent for the upcoming tour of the UK
At the start of the full tour additional staffing was included from the Bauer Radio network, this included a project manager along with an experiential street team, in addition “on Air” radio broadcasting and an agreed social networking package swung in to action
This day then repeated itself as the vehicle toured Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland with the promotional vehicle visiting over 46 locations meeting up with thousands of existing Union members as well as signing up a credible number of new members. Overall a highly successful tour
