We’re delighted to announce that esteemed construction firm McLaughlin & Harvey has commissioned Roadshow Promotions to provide a bespoke touring welfare bus. The double-decker bus has been bringing essential health checks directly to their employees making it convenient for site workers to have vital health assessments at their place of work.
The “You Matter” initiative encourages workers to Get on Board to look after their health and wellbeing. The centrepiece of the collaboration is RSP19 also known as Lizzie, a Corporate Class double-decker bus which will be staffed by healthcare practitioners providing on-site health checks and advice to colleagues.

During the 2-week tour our driver and the health bus travelled to the firm’s major construction sites across the country, starting in Bristol, and including Farnborough Airport, BMW Oxford and the Eden Campus in London. It completed its tour at BAE in Govan, Scotland. During that time over a hundred colleagues were assessed.
The Corporate Class health bus was fully wrapped with the “You Matter” and “Get on Board” branding for maximum impact. Internally the bus had a consultation area, modular seating and worktops, internet, a kitchen, electrical sockets and an awning over the entrance.
Each visitor to the double-decker bus had health checks conducted by the nurse practitioners covering a range of key metrics, including height, weight, and BMI measurements. They received a breakdown of blood pressure, blood sugar levels and other measures and had the opportunity to chat in more detail with the health practitioners about cholesterol and diabetes. They could even opt for a quick 10-minute back massage from the on-board masseuse on the upper deck.

This health examination serves as an MOT for staff, helping to identify and address potential health concerns like diabetes, cholesterol and other issues. It is normal during a welfare tour like this for a handful of colleagues to be flagged up for further testing or specialist consultations, if necessary. This proactive approach ensures that any potential health issues are promptly identified, allowing for early intervention and appropriate treatment, thus safeguarding the well-being of colleagues.
Celebrating 170 years in business in 2023, McLaughlin & Harvey is a long-established civil engineering construction company working on a number of high-profile projects across the UK. The company invested in a touring health bus to show its commitment to putting people first and to make it as convenient as possible to have a health check. The You Matter initiative has been well received across the company especially by those members of staff who are working away from home.
“McLaughlin & Harvey’s commitment to the health and welfare of their employees is evident in their decision to invest in this initiative,” said Roadshow Promotions’ Director Natasha Greenley. “By bringing the health checks directly to their workers with one of our touring buses, they are eliminating potential barriers to accessing healthcare services. They are also promoting a culture of well-being among their workforce and setting a commendable example within the industry”.
