Corby Borough Health Bus
The Brief
The Smoking Cessation team at Corby Borough Council approached us regarding the hire or purchase of a bespoke Mobile clinic/Youth outreach bus, equipped with computers, kitchen, internal TV’s, Printers and Game consoles.
12 Months Funding had been gained from a variety of agencies covering a variety of health checks and youth related projects
The Response
We calculated the costs of converting an existing vehicle for rental and a new vehicle for purchase and recommended the rental route, after reviewing the figures Corby agreed and we converted a fleet vehicle into what they required, equipped with everything, including the kitchen sink and delivered the “Health MOT Bus” on the due date.
The Result
The vehicle was a great success story for the council’s smoking cessation team, thousands of health checks were undertaken aboard the health vehicle, even more people pledged to quit smoking after meeting the on-board team, so successful that the team leader responsible had several meetings with the then Health Secretary to discuss how the project could be rolled out nationwide.
